Director, Internal Audit

Hilary, a Kenyan national, Heads AGRA’s Internal Audit function, where he plays a critical role in strengthening governance within the institution, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, and providing strategic guidance in risk identification, mitigation, and management for the achievement of organizational objectives.

Growing up in the western highlands of Kenya among smallholder farmers, Hilary gained firsthand experience of the challenges faced by Africa’s rural farming communities. From tending cattle to cultivating maize on his family’s farm, his early life shaped a deep-rooted passion for agriculture and rural development. Today, he brings that passion to AGRA, contributing to efforts that uplift the livelihoods of millions of African farmers.

Hilary brings a wealth of experience in audit, risk, and strategic management having held other senior leadership roles at the investment firm Sovereign Group and worked internationally with the global consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Hilary holds an MBA from Strathmore University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree (finance major) from the University of Nairobi. Professionally, he is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA-UK), Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), as well as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). He also holds a Higher Diploma in ICT from the Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS-UK).
