Annette is a seasoned corporate lawyer and trusted advisor with a distinguished career at the intersection of corporate law, governance, compliance, and risk management. A Kenyan national, she is known for her strategic insight and sound judgment. She currently serves as the General Counsel & Corporation Secretary at AGRA, where she plays a critical role in shaping legal and institutional frameworks that support AGRA’s sustainable growth.
Annette began her career in the financial services sector, where she led a legal department and demonstrated a strong ability to navigate complex legal and regulated landscapes. Her strategic mindset and practical approach to problem-solving positioned her as a trusted legal advisor. She later transitioned to the property development and management industry, heading the legal department of a prominent East African firm based in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. In this capacity, she provided comprehensive legal support on joint venture developments, litigation, contracting, and compliance, while overseeing a diverse portfolio spanning property management, real estate advisory, and project management.
At AGRA, Annette plays a critical role in shaping the organization’s legal and governance framework. She oversees all legal operations, ensuring compliance with donor, statutory, and regulatory requirements across AGRA’s focus countries. As the Corporation Secretary, she serves as a trusted advisor to AGRA’s global Board of Directors, providing counsel on governance matters, facilitating Board decision-making, and ensuring the effective implementation of Board decisions by Management.
Annette is a practicing Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a strong academic foundation in commercial and corporate law. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Master of Laws (LLM) and is known for her solution- oriented and strategic approach to complex legal matters.
