Waeni Ngea

General Counsel and Corporation Secretary

Waeni Ngea, a Kenyan national, is the General Counsel and Corporation Secretary at AGRA.

In her role, Waeni provides strategic legal oversight and leadership, ensuring strong governance, compliance, and risk management across the organisation, while supporting AGRA’s strategic and operational objectives.

Waeni is a seasoned professional, an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Company Secretary, an accredited Governance Auditor, and a member of both the Law Society of Kenya and the Institute of Certified Secretaries. She brings extensive expertise in legal affairs, corporate governance, and strategic leadership. She previously served as Head of Legal & Compliance for BAT East & Southern Africa and Company Secretary for BAT Kenya until December 2025, having rejoined the organisation in July 2023 after an earlier six-year tenure that ended in June 2020.

Before BAT, she held the role of Head of Legal & Compliance and Company Secretary at Bamburi Cement plc, Kenya, and previously served as Legal Counsel at Unilever Kenya Limited, supporting operations across the East African region.

She currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Maisha Bora Ventures Limited and a Council Member of the Association of Retirement Benefits Schemes, an advocacy body championing improved retirement benefits and stronger industry regulation in Kenya.
