Dr. Sylvester Kisonzo

Head, ICT

Sylvester Kisonzo, a Kenyan national, leads the ICT in AGRA. An expert with solid years of complex and challenging ICT experience, he is responsible for the design, development, and management of organization-wide ICT systems & infrastructure in alignment with organizational strategy. He previously led the IT function at ILRI (Kenya), an International Agricultural Research Institute that is a member of the CGIAR with offices in all major continents of the world, where he worked for 13 years. Prior to joining ILRI, he spent his first four post-university years working as a Systems Analyst in an IT consulting company (Business Computer Systems Ltd) in Kenya.

Sylvester holds a PhD in Public Policy & Administration: course-work major in Non-profit management and leadership; in his research dissertation, he explored the impact investments in ICT have on organizational performance. He is Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), and has training in certifications in Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), HP Tipping Point security and ethical hacking. In addition, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics & Economics (First Class Honors) from the University of Nairobi, a graduate diploma in Information Systems Management from Greenwich University (UK), and a MSc. in Information Systems from the University of Nairobi.
