Anne Maria MakhuloChief, International Cooperation
Anne Maria, a Kenyan national, is the Chief of International Cooperation. Prior to this role, Anne was the Head of Strategy & Analytics and served as a key advisor to the President and Chief of Staff to help advance AGRA’s mission and execute on several of AGRA’s most critical priorities through designing and implementing signature transformational efforts and leading cross-institutional efforts on new programs and initiatives. In particular, Anne worked with President and the Executive Team to secure the $200 million reinvestment from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and $50 million from the Rockefeller Foundation. Anne also coordinated and run the secretariat within AGRA for the 2016 Campaign to Seize the Moment for Africa’s Agricultural Transformation alongside the AU, NEPAD, African Development Bank, and several African countries and global donors. Currently, Anne is coordinating the development of the Partnership for Inclusive Agriculture Transformation (PIATA), a strategic partnership worth up to $340 million that brings together the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation and USAID to collaborate and jointly invest in agriculture transformation. In addition, Anne leads the Change Management Task Force, a cross-functional AGRA team coordinating the strategic, operational processes and people development in order to allow AGRA to effectively execute on the strategy. Anne joined AGRA from Dalberg Development Advisors where she served as a Senior Project Manager working across the African landscape and advising private corporations, government organizations and multilateral development partners on organizational strategy and design engagements in the areas of agriculture, financial inclusion, youth, renewable energy, and health sector. Before joining Dalberg, Anne worked as a Senior Actuarial Analyst with Pan Africa Life Assurance Ltd, where she was the lead actuarial analyst in design and pricing of products targeting the middle and lower income segment of the market.
