Mehrdad Ehsani

Head of Markets & Post-Harvest Management

Mehrdad holds a BSc in Agricultural Sciences from the University of British Columbia in Canada and an MSc in Agribusiness Management from the Imperial College, London.
With a career spanning 23 years, Mehrdad has worked in private and non-profit organizations in Canada, Israel, Costa Rica and East & Southern Africa. He has expertise in ecosystem approaches to market development in agriculture and rural development and its implications for adaptive management.
He has provided technical leadership in regional programmes such as VUNA, a DFID-funded climate smart agriculture programme, implemented across 5 countries in Southern Africa by Adam Smith International. He also served as the regional technical lead across 9 countries in East & Southern Africa for SNV’s agriculture programme.
More recently, he served for 4 years as Team Leader for DFID’s Kenya Market Assistance Programme implemented by Adam Smith International; as Technical Director to DFID’s Northern Uganda: Transforming the Economy through Climate Smart Agribusiness – Market Development (NUTEC-MD) implemented by Palladium, and most recently as Chief of Party to USAID’s Feed the Future East Africa’s Catalytic Sustainable Agribusiness Investment project.
Mehrdad has a passion for transforming the way poor people participate in and access markets.
