Prof. Bocar AHAMADOU
Country Director-Mali AGRA
Holder of a PhD in soil sciences (microbiology and soil biochemistry) from Huazhong Agricultural University (China), a Master’s degree in Economic Sciences and Management (Project Management), from the University of Lille1 (France) and a Master of Science in Agronomy from the Kouban State Agricultural University (Krasnodar, Russia), Bocar AHAMADOU’s professional career has been very rich and varied. He was co-founder of an association and then a national women’s NGO, from 1996 to 2003, where he coordinated and managed the organization in the Timbuktu region. He joined the IPR/IFRA of Katibougou in March 2003 as a teacher-researcher. He mainly conducted teaching and research activities (Pedology, Agricultural Microbiology and Project Management) at IPR/IFRA and at the University of Ségou on specific modules. He conducted these courses both in the classical cycles (technicians, engineers) and at the level of licences, masters and doctorates.
Mr. Bocar AHAMADOU’s priority areas of research were: (i) the development and popularization of biofertilizers and biopesticides; (ii) the remediation of soils polluted by heavy metals and pesticide residues; (iii) CO2 sequestration strategies in soil; (iv) indicators of soil quality and health.
Prof Bocar has published more than twenty scientific papers in international journals indexed by SCI which have favoured his active membership in several scientific reading committees including Springer verlag; FEMS Microbial Ecology; Journal of Soil Science and Environmental Management (JSSEM); International Journal of Plant and Soil Science; IJPSS; Geoderma; American Journal of Experimental Agriculture, and AJEA.
He served as Director of Research at the IPR/IFRA in Katibougou from March 2020 to January 2024, coordinating 12 multidisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research teams of more than 180 researchers.
He supervised and/or co-supervised the work of forty students, all cycles combined and participated regularly in defense juries, scientific committees and Symposia and/or forums for sharing/ discussion of research results.
He worked 6 years for OCP AFRICA as main Agronomist and PMO in charge of mamanging the Agribooster Programs. He carried out various consulting work at both national and international level in terms of project/programme management and support to the development of agricultural value chains.
Prof. Bocar AHAMADOU is since January 2024 the Country Director for AGRA in Mali
