Litos is a dedicated international development professional with a passion for advancing sustainable economic growth in Southern Africa. His career is defined by his commitment to empowering rural communities, particularly smallholder farmers, through innovative and impactful programs. From his work with Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) and Helvetas in Northern Mozambique to his regional leadership at ICCO Cooperation in Pretoria, Litos has consistently demonstrated his ability to drive positive change. He spearheaded initiatives that connected farmers in Angola, Malawi, and South Africa to lucrative international markets, significantly enhancing their livelihoods by strengthening coffee, avocado, and banana value chains. As a Country Director, he successfully led organizations focused on health, social protection, and sustainable agriculture, showcasing his versatility and commitment to holistic development and Human Resources Management. Litos’s expertise is underpinned by a robust academic foundation, including Master’s degrees in Environmental Management, and Business Administration as well as a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences. Litos is currently advancing his knowledge through a PhD in Ecology and Environmental Health, with a focus on food safety and sustainability. With more than fifteen years of experience, Litos excels in leading multi-country projects, managing complex grants, and forging strategic partnerships with governments and the private sector. His work consistently centers on climate-smart agriculture, food security, and sustainable rural development.
