AGRA

As a country Director, John is responsible for managing results for the Kenya portfolio with the Government of Kenya, Donors, Private Sector and implementing agencies. He previously worked as a Lead program officer for Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. In that position he led the development of AGRA strategy for the period 2017-2022 and lead institutional engagement with Government and key donors in these countries. John has currently facilitated the development of AGRA Kenya strategy 2023-2028.

At AGRA, Mr Macharia managed the Rockefeller Foundation Waste and Spoilage Initiative as well as The Farm to Market Alliance. He has previously worked with the Netherlands Development organization and Technoserve in the East Africa Region.

Mr. Macharia has a distinguished track record as an agricultural value chain specialist, enterprise, and strategy advisor. He holds an MBA in strategic management and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in strategic management and is completing a Master of Science in Finance and Investments. He was recently inducted as an Acumen Rockefeller food system Fellow 2022.
