Mohamed Elmi is a an experienced financial professional with over 20 years of experience in international development. He has held several senior finance positions at organizations including Trade Facilitation Office, Relief International, Care Canada and ActionAid Secretariat, where he provided oversight and support to programs at HQ, regional and field levels. He has a proven track record of successfully managing budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and implementing financial strategies that maximize funding impact. His skills have played a crucial role in the successful implementation of projects across diverse sectors, including education, health, environment, and humanitarian relief.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mohamed is committed to promoting educational opportunities for women and girls. He is currently serving as a volunteer board member of the AKHRI Mothers and Daughters Literacy, a community-based organization supporting women’s and girls’ literacy in Somalia, and actively contributes to empowering and educating women in his native country.
He is Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Canada, holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Laurentian University, a Master of Science Degree in Project Management from Salford University and is currently pursuing an MBA at Sprott School of Business, Carleton University.
