Tinga mechanization by Vaell
Tinga is a time-share mechanization leasing solution targeting smallholder farmers in Kenya initiated by Vaell. It offers smallholder farmers farm mechanization services whereby they can only pay when using the equipment; giving them access to high-performance equipment as and when needed for a short period. The solution aims at reducing drudgery and cost of land preparation as compared to manual labor hence increase the land size under production. It is an Uber version of tractor hailing services.
The channels of accessing the services are an app on Android, SMS short code, contacting a call center via a telephone call, visiting the community hub or visiting the Tinga website. AGRA, through its Mastercard Foundation funded program, is providing technical and capacity building support to help Vaell leasing develop a business model that can sustainably serve the smallholder farmer mechanization needs.
