Day 3 at COP 28 | US Announces $3 billion pledge to Green Climate Fund

On Saturday, the U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris announced in Dubai at the COP28 Climate Conference that the United States is pledging $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund — the world’s largest climate fund created to help developing countries handle climate change. The multibillion-dollar pledge to the climate fund, however, first must be approved by the U.S. Congress.

Countries and Institutions from Africa and the Middle East joined forces under the facilitation of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to officially introduce the groundbreaking “Africa and Middle East SAFE Initiative.” This landmark initiative endeavors to Scale-up Agriculture and Food systems for Economic development in Africa and the Middle East and aims to benefit millions of people whose livelihoods are threatened by the climate crisis.
