Call For Proposals: Baseline studies for Ghana and Burkina for the BMZ project

The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) is working with African governments, donors, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and African farmers to significantly and sustainably improve the productivity and incomes of resource-poor farmers in Africa. AGRA has its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

AGRA aims to ensure that smallholder farmers have what they need to succeed: good seeds and healthy soils; access to markets, information, financing, storage and transport; and policies that provide them with comprehensive support. Through developing Africa’s high-potential breadbasket areas, while also boosting farm productivity across more challenging environments, AGRA works to transform smallholder agriculture into a highly productive, efficient, sustainable and competitive system, while protecting the environment.

AGRA intends to conduct a study that aims to provide an analysis describing the situation prior to AGRA/BMZ intervention against which progress will be assessed. This will enable AGRA evaluate the extent to which its objectives have been achieved. A number of impact, outcome and output level indicators have been set. Some of these are quantitative. Others are related to the more qualitative aims of AGRA with respect to management and behavior change among target farmers. The baseline study will therefore provide benchmark data against which achievements can be evaluated especially in respect to the set indicators.  The assignment will cover the Brong Ahafo and Northern regions in Ghana and Boucle du Mouhoun, Hauts-Bassins, Cascades, Centre-Est and Centre-Ouest in Burkina Faso.

AGRA now invites eligible consultants (firms) to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, general qualifications of key staff, and so forth).
